Logbook of the World

Search Tool for Firefox

After growing tired of doing the copy and past bit to check if a station uses Logbook of the World; I created a simple Firefox search tool for myself. After using it for a couple of months, I thought I'd share it here. Remeber you must already  be a Logbook of  the World registered user for this tool to work.

The tool allows you to do quick searches from your favorite online spots to see if a station uses Logbook of the World. The tool works from the Firefox browser just like your Google, Yahoo or other search selections. (Tested on Firefox version 3.0.4+)

How to Install

If you are running a compatable browser, look right now in your search list!

There should be an "Add Logbook of the World Search"

Just click on it and you're done!

This is where this script gets really useful - open your favorite DX Spots site. I use DX Summit, and highlight the call you wish to check.

Next, right click on the highlighted call and select "Search LoTW for (call)"

A new tab will open with the Logbook of the World data for the call in question. Note that the first time you use the tool, you will need to log in to Logbook with your username and password.

That's all there is to it. Close the tab when you are done, and you're ready for your next check. This makes verifying if a station uses Logbook of the World quick and easy!

Enjoy!
